The Hanging Rock Discovery Centre is the perfect place to start exploring. Hands on interpretive displays and informative panels provide background on the history, mystery and geology of the Rock.

Taking your own BBQ?
Help keep Hanging Rock safe for the many native animals that live here - please follow any fire restrictions that may apply.
During the fire restriction period, the Ranger will be able to advise you on areas that you can use your gas BBQ. To be absolutely safe, use one of the free BBQ's within the reserve.
Please Note: Heat bead or solid fuel BBQ's are prohibited at ALL times.
Walks and tours
There are numerous walking paths and trails for exploring the rock and the reserve at your own pace. The summit is a class 3 walking track and 1800 metre return trip.

Even the wildlife loves Hanging Rock, with native species such as koala, kangaroo, wallaby and echidna making the occasional appearance.
Many species of bird nest around the reserve, including bright rosellas and cockatoos, while mammals like the greater glider enjoy the relaxing surrounding and towering eucalypts.
The Reserve abounds with native animals, however they are all wild and should not be approached, bothered or fed.
